Anthropic Expands Claude Cowork Agent to Mobile and Web

Anthropic has expanded its Claude Cowork AI agent beyond the desktop app to include mobile devices and web browsers. This update allows users to interact with the autonomous agent without needing to maintain an active, open connection to their desktop computers. The move is designed to make Cowork a persistent, agentic coworker capable of handling business process operations such as data reconciliation, reporting, and communication tasks across various digital environments.

The expansion follows a trend where AI companies are moving away from traditional chatbot interfaces toward autonomous agent models that function across multiple platforms. Anthropic released usage data indicating that over 33 per cent of Cowork sessions are currently focused on business operations, while 16 per cent involve content creation. By integrating these capabilities directly into mobile and web interfaces, Anthropic aims to reduce the friction for power users who previously relied on keeping their workstations running overnight to ensure tasks were completed.

The revamped Claude Cowork will be accessible to subscribers of Anthropic's Max plan starting July 8. The company plans to gradually provide access to Pro tier members, though availability for free-tier users remains unconfirmed. This rollout coincides with similar industry efforts by rivals like OpenAI to unify their desktop and smartphone experiences. The ultimate goal for Anthropic is to integrate these AI agents into daily professional workflows, transforming them from niche developer tools into standard administrative aids for a wide range of corporate roles.
