Anthropic Report: 35% of Users Foresee AI Handling Most Work

A significant portion of AI users, at least 35%, now expect the technology to perform the majority of their professional tasks within the next year, according to a recent report from Anthropic. Data gathered from approximately 9,700 Claude users indicates a rapid acceleration in workplace integration, with nearly six in 10 respondents already planning to delegate a larger share of their daily activities to AI tools compared to current levels. This rapid adoption trend highlights a growing confidence in large language models to handle complex professional functions.

While adoption rates climb, the global AI landscape is seeing increased friction regarding access. Austria’s State Secretary for Digitalization, Alexander Proell, has publicly urged European leaders to foster a climate that supports hosting companies like Anthropic, specifically to avoid being sidelined as the U.S. implements stricter curbs on AI access. Proell emphasized the necessity for Europe to ensure its digital infrastructure remains connected to cutting-edge global innovation, warning against the risk of technological isolation.

The findings from the Anthropic index suggest that workplace automation may occur much faster than many previous industry forecasts anticipated. As users increasingly rely on these tools for core tasks, the reliance on stable, cross-border access to AI models becomes critical for European and global productivity. Policymakers now face the dual challenge of managing AI safety risks while simultaneously ensuring that their domestic industries are not cut off from the economic benefits of advanced artificial intelligence capabilities.
