Amazon Partners With Telangana To Integrate AI Literacy In State Schools

Amazon has launched a major collaboration with the Telangana School Education department to introduce artificial intelligence literacy into the state's public school curriculum. This initiative, operating under the Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) program, is designed to reach approximately one million students annually. The program focuses on providing a structured AI learning path for students in Classes 6 through 9, ensuring early exposure to emerging technologies.

To ensure the successful implementation of the curriculum, Amazon has trained over 28,000 teachers across the state. Furthermore, the company is providing more than 2,000 refurbished laptops to 93 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and 152 Core Urban Region Economy schools. This hardware support is critical for bridging the digital divide and providing students with the necessary tools to engage with complex AI concepts in a practical, hands-on environment.

This project is part of a broader commitment by Amazon to reach four million government school students across India by 2030. By embedding AI literacy into the foundational years of schooling, the initiative aims to prepare the next generation of Indian students for a workforce increasingly dominated by automation and machine learning. The success of this model in Telangana could serve as a blueprint for similar state-level partnerships across the country, significantly impacting the national digital literacy landscape.
