AICWA Demands FIR Against Sanjay Leela Bhansali Following Set Tragedy

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded the registration of an FIR against filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali following the death of a 42-year-old carpenter, Chandradhari Singh Yadav, on the sets of his film Love & War. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 17, 2026, reportedly due to an electric shock, leaving behind a wife and two daughters.

AICWA President Suresh Gupta has publicly accused the production of failing to implement mandatory safety protocols. The association is seeking a compensation of Rs. 1 crore for the victim's family and an extensive high-level inquiry. Gupta has cited a history of past safety-related incidents on sets associated with the filmmaker, asserting that negligence continues to endanger workers to prioritize production timelines.

The incident has triggered a wider conversation regarding safety standards in the Indian film industry, with the association urging authorities to hold high-profile producers accountable. While the production house has reportedly offered Rs. 40 lakhs as compensation, the AICWA remains firm in its push for criminal investigation and stronger regulatory oversight to ensure worker safety.
