AAP MP Sanjay Singh Urges PM Modi To Address Church Attacks

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has formally written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking immediate intervention regarding what he describes as a disturbing rise in attacks on the Christian community. In his letter, Singh highlighted numerous incidents targeting churches and pastors across several states. He urged the Prime Minister to ensure the safety of religious minorities and to hold those responsible for these incidents accountable under the law.

The appeal stems from growing apprehension among civil society groups and minority leaders regarding localized acts of violence and harassment targeting Christian prayer centers. Singh argued that these occurrences threaten the social fabric and secular values of the country. He noted that despite various representations made to state and central authorities, the situation has not sufficiently improved, prompting his direct outreach to the head of government.

The issue has sparked broader political debate about religious freedom and the state's responsibility to protect minorities. By framing the plea as a national security and social order concern, Singh has sought to apply pressure on the Union government to issue clear directives against communal intimidation.
