Tata Tiago 2026 Update: Premium Features and New Platform Elevate Hatchback

Tata Motors has introduced a midlife update for its entry-level hatchback, the Tata Tiago, including its popular electric counterpart, the Tata Tiago.ev. The updated model is now built on the more modern Altroz and Punch platform, offering a stronger build quality. This hatchback continues to serve as an entry point for buyers, with 60% of buyers choosing petrol, while CNG and EV versions account for 20% each. Notably, 60% of Tiago.ev buyers are first-time car owners, reflecting its strong appeal as a city commuter.

Under the hood, the internal combustion engine variants continue to rely on the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine producing 84 BHP and 113 Nm of torque, available with manual and AMT gearboxes. However, the update removes the selectable Eco and City driving modes previously available in the petrol variant. On the green side, the Tiago.ev offers a real-world range of approximately 200 km, serving as an affordable EV solution starting at Rs 7 lakh and topping out at Rs 9.99 lakh.

Inside, the 2026 Tiago receives a completely redesigned dashboard featuring a dual floating-screen setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment. The exterior gains more edgy styling, LED headlamps, and 15-inch alloy wheels. While the upgrades improve material quality and safety, the 3-cylinder petrol motor's noisy startup remains a minor drawback. As a key volume driver, this update ensures the Tiago remains highly competitive against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios in India's price-sensitive hatchback segment.
